Get Your Free Hydrogen Key

Hydrogen is free, and the key system is the reason why. Instead of charging you, the developers ask you to complete a short verification. It takes about five minutes the first time, and then you are set. Here is the whole process, step by step.

1. Install Hydrogen first. If you have not already, grab the app from the Download page and install it on your device. The key screen appears when you first open the app.
2. Open the app and tap Get Key. Right on the welcome screen you will see a button labeled Get Key. Tap it and your browser will open the official key page.
3. Start the verification. The key page explains what happens next. Tap the button to begin. You will be guided through a short series of checkpoints.
4. Work through each checkpoint. Every checkpoint is a small task shown on screen, like visiting a page or confirming something. Read what it asks, do it, then come back and continue. There are usually two or three of them.
5. Take your time and do not skip. Rushing or skipping steps is the most common reason people get stuck. Each checkpoint needs to register as complete before the next one unlocks, so follow them in order.
6. Finish the final step. After the last checkpoint, the page will process for a few seconds. Do not close the tab while it is working.
7. Copy your key. Your personal key appears on the screen once everything is done. It is a long string of letters and numbers. Tap it to copy, or write it down somewhere safe.
8. Paste the key into the app. Head back to Hydrogen, paste your key into the key field, and submit. The app will verify it and let you in.
9. You are done. From here on, the app opens straight into the script editor whenever your key is valid. No more key screens until it expires.
10. When the key expires, just repeat the process. Keys last for a limited time. When yours runs out, the app will ask for a new one. Go through the same steps again. It gets faster every time.

Key Not Working? Try This

• Key says invalid: make sure you copied the whole thing, with no extra spaces at the start or end. Copy and paste beats typing it out by hand.
• Key page will not load: check your connection, then try again in a few minutes. Busy periods right after an update can slow it down.
• Stuck on a checkpoint: go back one step and redo it slowly. Skipped or half-finished checkpoints are the usual culprit.
• App asks for a key every time: your key probably expired. That is normal. Generate a fresh one with the steps above.
